My gut feeling also tells me that it was not presented in the best light to Gibson because it also would have required removing a few high end earners that were shitty leaders and had the ear of the decision makers more so than the actual innovators and worker bees. I keep coming back to my suspicion that the closure of Sonar was in the road map when they did the lifetime updates, making it a quick cash grab from those who were reluctant to upgrade from the X series. Given all the moaning about money one would think theyd keep the store up for people to get the latest still. People could re-up for another year or god-forbid, an unsuspecting person buys it for the first time. This one has me scratching my head a bit, but I've faith that eventually, me and CW will find satisfactory common ground.I'm curious as to why no change to the cakewalk website.

I like being able to keep things straightforward. My favorite compressors have like two knobs. I was fine with the snap options previously. I also think in some ways, in their zeal to provide more options and flexibility, they over thought and over complicated matters. That aspect alone slowed me down considerably.

For me, I'm pretty straightforward, and a lot of what they did simply made me have to open up the help manual again in order to get back to how I like my tools presented. There are more nuanced options as to how and what you want to do. I think what they attempted in this version is more workflow flexibility. I'm in agreement that as of this moment, it is a challenged product. Still, I've patience with the company and trust that they will get the problems sorted out eventually, and when they do, it will be a solid product. I've been a Cakewalk User since the "Pro Audio" days. The problem hasn't occured for me again, but after I posted this on the Sonar forum there have been 5 or 6 people that have reported the same problem and the reason I opened the Bug report. I didn't want to screw around with everone here for the session.

Not knowing what was happening, I rebooted the system into Vista 32 bit (on a separate hard drive on the same PC) and used the older Sonar 8.5.3 to record the session. When the musicians arrived for the session, I went back to Sonar (it was left running, minimized) to start setting up levels and that's when I found it was missing.

It screwed me up, Thursday (the day after installing it) as I was getting ready to do the first recording session with X1, I brought it up and set up the track input channels from my Saffire Pro 40, about an hour before the session. When the control bar disappers there is a blank area where it should be. There are other bugs, as there are with any release. Another user has reported "floating the control bar" then parking it also fixes it but I haven't tried that. When that happens, restarting Sonar fixes it. I have opened a bug report with Sonar for the "loss of control bar" problem.
